Beastliest Beast Race yet!
Over 2300 tackle the mud, Loch and obstacles at the Prime Four Beast Race, Banchory
Over 2300 brave racers tackled a gruelling 10km course and conquered 25 epic obstacles at Knockburn Loch, near Banchory, on Saturday. The Beastly obstacles included wading through chin deep mud, climbing over 12ft high wooden walls, squeezing through water filled tunnels and sliding into the icy loch. Siobhan Prise won the ‘Fastest Female Beast’ with a stunning time of 59 minutes 42 seconds, and Stuart Amory beasted himself to pick up the Fastest Male Beast prize in 52 minutes 47 seconds.
Richard Lawes of Firetrail Events said:
“With over 2300 runners this has been the biggest Beast Race ever. 70% of the competitors ran as part of a team, and it was fantastic to see friends and work colleagues working together to tackle the obstacles. As usual we had a hard core of runners competing in fancy dress and the effort put in to some of the costumes is amazing! “
“Prime Four’s sponsorship has enabled us to increase the excitement and visual impact of the obstacles for 2015. We’ve all been working hard to take the event to the next level of experience. Feedback so far from the runners has been really positive with the chute extension and bigger wall obstacles being particular favourites.”
“We are also expecting the event to raise over £50,000 for Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland who provide care and support to victims and families of coronary heart disease, stroke and chest illness”.
“The Prime Four Beast Race will be back next year and Beast Racers can expect even more obstacles, more mud and more of a beasting!”
Fife Hyland from Prime Four said:
“The Prime Four Beast Race at Banchory surpassed all expectations this year – increased participation, larger obstacles and a challenging new route all led to another fantastic day at what is one of the best adventure races in Scotland. The free training sessions we ran at Prime Four in the build up to the race obviously paid off for the competitors, and we were delighted to see so many people finish safely in great times and with big smiles on their faces!”
Well done to all the Prime Four teams that took part from Nexen, Apache, Transocean, The Village and OneSubsea! Were delighted to have spotted some of you on the course....
