GEF Safari Series Returns to Prime Four

A glorious sunny day provided the perfect backdrop as runners of all ages gathered at Prime Four for this year’s GEF Safari Series, with competitors taking part in both the fast and flat 3k race and the ever-popular Children’s 1k.

Prime Four was delighted to once again host the event and would like to thank GEF for choosing the business park as one of its race locations. With almost 200 runners registered across the two races, alongside many family members, friends and colleagues cheering from the sidelines, there was a fantastic atmosphere throughout the morning.

The Children’s 1k produced some impressive performances. In the Under-10 category, Ellis Mennie claimed first place for the boys in 3:35, while Dahlia Edwards was the first girl home in an impressive 3:45.

The 3k race also delivered some exceptionally fast times. Matthew Hodkinson was the first male across the finish line in 9:55, while Lucy Stevenson was the first female home in an incredible 11:51—an even more remarkable achievement given she is just 12 years old.

An incredible £3,018 was raised and will go towards GEF’s work providing education, shelter, and wellbeing support for children and families facing hardship. In Kenya, support includes public education scholarships, house building, counselling services and farming assistance. In north-east Scotland, the charity offer grant funding for specialist equipment and services to families who have a child with a disability or life limiting condition.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part, the enthusiastic spectators who created such a brilliant atmosphere, and the fantastic team of volunteers whose hard work ensured the day ran so smoothly.
